Radiation Day 4 of 20 – 20% Complete

Just another quick post! I’m officially about one week through my radiation treatment and 20% complete. The new two weeks will be full, 5-day weeks. I’m also nervous because it will probably be around the end of this week that my side effects could come to be noticeable and I’m really afraid what those could be.

Not to scare anyone (or just myself even), but the skin reactions that normally happen people describe as a sunburn. Your skin will be red, it might be a bit painful, dry and itchy. But there is something called a “moist” reaction. Nothing ever described with the word moist sounds good except maybe moist cake. That’s it. Otherwise, moist is gross and weird and bad. In a moist skin reaction, your skin basically sloughs off. That can happen in small, patchy sections or large surface areas. Obviously, the bigger the area, the more the severe the reaction is considered. Also, “slough” is another word that I feel like you never want to hear in conjunction with your skin or maybe anything. By using this special gel, I’m hoping that I will prevent my skin from developing these higher grade reactions. But it’s one of those things that only time will tell.

Unfortunately, their Amazon music connection was misbehaving so I had a silent treatment today. I went back to get changed at 3:58 PM and I was in my car by 4:24 PM. Not too bad!
